Andrew's Trip to Dubai

During my time in Dubai, I had the opportunity to see some of the most amazing sights and hotels that Dubai has to offer. We were also able to experience a feast at Iftar on the first evening of Ramadan. I flew directly from Dublin to Dubai which took about 6 hours and 45 minutes.

Location

Jumeriah Beach Residence/Jumeriah Palm is around 30KM away from Dubai Airport. Traffic depending, it can take anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes to reach these areas by car. There are also public transport options available to use to get from A to B which take slightly longer than if you were to travel by car.

What I Loved

I loved the hospitality of the locals. It was great to be a part of the first Iftar of Ramadan in 2023 by taking part in Iftar at the Jumeriah Towers. The weather was perfect during my stay reaching 25 to 30 degrees, much more bearable than the summer months where it can reach 50 degrees!

Activities & Places to See

  • The Palm Jumeirah - an artificial island designed in the shape of a palm tree. It is one of the largest artificial islands in the world.
  • The Dubai Creek - a natural saltwater inlet that divides the city into two sections.
  • Dubai Mall - The largest shopping center in the world which offers a vast array of of shopping, dining and entertainment options.
  • The Dubai Eye - The worlds largest Ferris wheel located on Bluewaters Islands.

Shopping

There is plenty to do in Dubai. The world's largest shopping centre, the Dubai Mall, is located here with over 1,200 outlets offering the best designer brands. You can tap your card in most of the retail outlets making shopping an easy & straightforward experience. At the rear of the shopping centre you will find the Burj Khalifa.

Food & Bars

We ate mainly at the hotels that were hosting us, in restaurants such as Gordon Ramsay’s famous Hell’s Kitchen. There are restaurants offering all types of cuisines and bars to suit everyone’s tastes to be found here. We spent a lot of our free time at the Monkey Bar in our second hotel. They made the most delicious cocktails here! From luxurious to edgy, every kind of night club can be found all over the city, and come Friday night, you are spoiled for choice.
