Anthony's Trip to Brazil
By Anthony Efinda
Earlier this year I travelled to Brazil with my wife and son for 2 months. We spent most of our time in Sao Paulo but did get to go to Bahia for 2 weeks and Campos Dos Jordao for a week.
Location
Brazil is located in South America and is the largest country on the continent, sharing a border with countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Uruguay. It has a vast and diverse landscape, including the Amazon Rainforest, the Pantanal wetlands, the Brazilian Highlands, and a long coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. We flew to Sao Paulo with KLM, with a stopover in Amsterdam on the way.
What I Loved
I found the Samba schools to be really interesting, and a unique experience you couldn't get anywhere else. Here, we learned how to do a few different dances while also seeing some behind-the-scenes preparations for Carnival.
Activities & Places to See
- Visit Ibirapuera Park (Parque Ibirapuera), one of São Paulo's most famous parks, which offers jogging trails, lakes, museums, and cultural events.
- Relax on the stunning beaches of Praia do Forte, known for its natural pools, crystal-clear waters, and sea turtles.
- While in Campos Dos Jordao, Take a scenic train ride on the Trenzinho de Campos, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Food & Bars
Trying some authentic Brazilian dishes is a must while visiting the country. Some of the most popular include coxinha, feijoada & churasco. The Samba bars are a fantastic place to enjoy a cocktail in the evening too.
