In March 2022 I went on our first family holiday to Mauritius with my husband and two children. We flew Air France from Dublin via Paris to Mauritius. We had a private transfer from the airport direct to the The Ravenala Attitude Hotel which took one hours drive. As we got to the hotel they took our bags and sat us down in the relaxing open air reception area overlooking an infinity pool and the hotel’s gardens. We were served cooling rolled up face clothes and a glass of a refreshing Mauritius drink. While we relaxed on the couches with the beautiful view, they sorted out all the paperwork for us. Once we were finished, they gave us a tour of the hotel and all that it has to offer before showing us our garden view family room. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they made sure that we were relaxed and know what it means to be on holiday. They love children and will do anything for you to feel comfortable. There are loads of different areas around the hotel for you to relax and different restaurants and bars to have a different scenery every day.

 

Location

In Mauritius, if you have booked an All Inclusive stay you pretty much don’t leave the hotel as they have everything for you unless you want to do tours. The hotel is situated in Balaclava on the west side of the island. It’s only a 15 minute drive to the capital Port Louis and 15 minutes to Grand Baie. Most tours you can do directly from the hotel or a transfer can collect you and take you to your destination. If you wanted to eat outside of the hotel you would need to go to Grand Baie or Port Louis.

What I Loved

Myself and my family absolutely loved the warm weather, the beautiful beaches and the crystal clear water perfect for swimming in. We also loved just relaxing around the pool. This was the type of holiday we wanted and we definitely got it.

Activities & Places to See

  • Grand Baie has lots of shopping, the beach, the grand bazar and restaurants.
  • The catamaran day cruise to Ile aux Cerfs island is a great experience. On the way to the island you stop to snorkel, you get to see a waterfall close up and have a barbeque onboard. To do this tour it is about a 45 minute drive from the hotel, and a transfer will collect you and drop you off at the hotel again.
  • Turtle Bay is only a 15 minute boat ride from the hotel where you can swim with the turtles.

Shopping

The hotel has one boutique-style shop in it which sells things like clothes and Mauritian souvenirs. There are lots of opportunities to do some shopping in Grand Baie.

Food & Bars

The hotel has 10 different restaurants for you to choose from so there is no need to go anywhere else. The food ranges from buffet to barbeque, Italian, Chinese, Sushi and Mauritian food. There is also 3 different bars around the hotel; the balcony bar which is close to reception with couches to relax on, the pool bar which is located in the main entertainment area and next to the pools, and the beach bar with swing chairs on the beach. If you are relaxing by the pool or on the beach loungers, the staff also come and serve you drinks while you are relaxing so there is no need to get up.
