Kate's Trip to Thailand & Abu Dhabi
By Kate McGillicuddy
Recently, I was lucky enough to be part of a small group of agents to travel to Abu Dhabi and Thailand, where I got to explore some truly magnificent sights. It was a great combination of a Beach Holiday & a City Break, as I got to experience the best of both all in one holiday. I would definitely recommend a visit to anybody who gets the chance to go!
Location
We flew with Etihad Airways from Dublin to Abu Dhabi, where I stayed overnight at the 5* Park Hyatt Saadiyat Abu Dhabi Hotel. Everything here was excellent, from the service to the food & everything in between. It took around 25 minutes to get from the airport to Saadiyat Island. From Abu Dhabi we then flew to Bangkok. It takes 2 and a half hours to get from Bangkok Airport to Hua Hin by bus, and 30 minutes to get from Bangkok Airport to downtown Bangkok.
What I Loved
While in Abu Dhabi we visited Ferrari World, where I went on one of the fastest roller coasters in the world! This was a really fun day and a must-see for any adrenaline junkies and those who love cars & racing. We also went to The Louvre, which was very interesting and would make for a great day out for anyone interested in art. In Thailand, we visited Hua Hin & Bangkok city, both of which offered a unique offering. Hua Hin is home to some beautiful beaches & breathtaking landscapes, while Bangkok is a bustling & vibrant city filled with things to do & see. I loved getting to experience the different cultures of each destination.
Activities & Places to See
- Ferrari World in Abu Dhabu is great for people of all ages, with a variety of rides & attractions on offer.
- Visit the Louvre for an interesting & informative day out.
- See Wat Arun, a Buddhist Temple in Bangkok.
- Experience the Taling Chan Floating Market in Bangkok, a fabulous mix of sights and smells.
Food & Bars
We visited a lot of really great restaurants in both Abu Dhabi & Thailand. Mate restaurant in the Park Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi was fantastic, as were Main restaurant in the Dusit Thani in Hua Hin & the Siam Brasserie in the Lancaster Hotel Bangkok. I also tasted some of the best local beers ever on this trip! If you're a beer drinker I'd recommend try Chang or Singha beer.
