Kathryns Trip To Dubai

 

Last year I travelled with my family to Dubai and spent 5 days enjoying this modern city. We flew with Emirates directly from Dublin to Dubai. From Dubai Airport we took an airport shuttle which took about 25 minutes.

Location

Dubai is a modern and futuristic city, where tradition and innovation intertwine. There are plenty of restaurants, outdoor activities, bars, and entertainment to choose from. We stayed in the 5 star Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers, which has a nice view of the Dubai’s port and it is close to the airport. The hotel has modern rooms and offers an outdoor pool, gym, bar and two restaurants, one all- day and another specializing in Italian cuisine.

What I Loved

I loved the amazing view from Burj Khalifa and the incredible choreography of the Dubai Fountain. I also enjoyed the desert safari - it's an awesome experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Activities & Places to See

  • Get an incredible view from Burj Khalifa (the world's tallest building). The view from the observation deck on level 124 and from at the Top Sky Lounge on the 148th floor is stunning!
  • Be spellbound by the choreography of the Dubai Fountain, the world's tallest performing fountain which gives a beautiful display of light and music.
  • Visit Palm Jumeirah, one of the largest artificial islands in the world to explore one of Dubai’s points of architectural pride, the Miracle Garden. This is one of the biggest and most beautiful natural flower gardens in the world and is also home to the Dubai Aquarium with over 140 species of sea life.
  • Have fun at some of Dubai’s theme parks, like Aquaventure Waterpark with its Dolphin and Sea Lion bay and IMG Worlds of Adventure with its live shows, attractive rides, movies, and popular franchises from Frozen, Disney, Cars, Marvel, DC and more.
  • Ride around on the golden sands of the Arabian desert on an SUV during a desert tour. After this, enjoy a tasty meal under the stars while local music plays in the background.

Shopping

Shopping in Dubai is an incredible experience. There are plenty of shopping malls and stores to visit. Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai, located next to the Burj Khalifa, has over 1,200 stores and hundreds of food and beverage spots. You can also find the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo as well as an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink in the mall! City Walk, located between Downtown and Jumeirah Beach, is another place not to be missed. It has a mixture of Arabic and European style architecture with plenty of boutiques, Michelin-Star restaurants and entertainment establishments. Another famous mall is the Mall of Emirates, which is home to Ski Dubai and the Magic Planet. This is an amazing spot for kids, and also offers a wonderful choice of shops, restaurants and a cinema.

Food & Bars

We mostly ate at our hotel and at the restaurants within the malls. Dubai Marina was a great place for dining too, as there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to be enjoyed here. Madinat Jumeirah has a traditional Arabian style and allows visitors to get a taste of Authentic Dubai culture.

Beaches

Kite Beach, with its soft white sand and clean water is perfect for relaxing and enjoying activities such as wakeboarding, kitesurfing, and other great water sports. This beach is great for families, friend groups and fitness fanatics and it has a lot of facilities like showers, bars, umbrellas and beach chairs. Jumeirah Beach is another impeccable spot for water sports like jet skiing, kitesurfing and more. It also has very good facilities including open-air cafes, restaurants, and sun loungers with an incredible view of the Burj Al Arab. La Mer is an urban beach with a wide-open space filled with shops, restaurants, lovely cafes, and beach sports. It s decorated with palm trees and gives a wonderful view of the city skyline and the Arabian Gulf. It's the perfect place to spend a relaxing day!
