Tara's Trip to Thailand
By Tara Fitzgibbon
Last year I travelled with my friends to Thailand and spent 4 nights in Phuket, 1 night in Phi Phi and 2 nights in Bangkok. We flew with Turkish Airlines from Dublin via Istanbul to Phuket and for the internal flights we used Thai Airways. From the airport we took a hotel transfer to arrive in Phuket city and to our hotel which took around an hour.
Location
Thailand, which is nicknamed the Land of Smiles, is a country rich in culture, tradition, beautiful beaches, and cosmopolitan cities like Bangkok. It's variety makes it an extremely popular tourist destination. In Bangkok we stayed in the 4 star Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit. In Ko Phi Phi we stayed in the 3 star Phi Phi Villa Resort. Finally in Phuket we stayed at the 4 star Ramada by Wyndham. All the hotels have amazing rooms that are decorated in a mix of Thai and modern styles, as well as facilities such as a pool, restaurants and a spa.

What I Loved
The beaches all over Thailand were beautiful. I particularly loved seeing Bangkok with its mix of traditional Thai culture and its cosmopolitan city atmosphere. Our visit to the Grand Palace was really enjoyable too, as it was like jumping back in the past.

Shopping
Thailand has plenty of shops where you can buy beautiful souvenirs to take home as a memento of your holiday. There are shopping centres all over Bangkok with a range of stores in them. Some of the most popular include Icon Siam, Terminal 21, MBK Center and Central World. In Phukets, there is a lovely shopping mall called Jungceylon which has over 200 outlets which include brand-name retailers. Chillva Market, a cool night market with vintage vibes, sells a wide selection of food, fashion and souvenirs. The Premium Outlet is the place to go to find all types of goods at discounted prices, and Turtle Village is great for finding unique Thai souvenirs and clothes.
