Visit the Sao Francisco church with beautiful gold-covered wood carvings in its interior. Be sure not to miss churches and cathedrals such as Igreja do Senhor do Bonfim and Cathedral on Terreiro de Jesus. Take the dramatic free-standing elevator to upper town linking Praca Cairu in the harbour area to Praca Tome de Souza in the historic old town which has become a landmark in Salvador.
