Eleuthera is a long, thin island in the Bahamas approximately 60 miles east of Nassau. It is just over a mile wide and 110 miles long. The main places of settlement are Governor's Harbour, Rock Sound, Tarpum Bay, Harbour Island, and Spanish Wells. The island boasts rolling pink sandy beaches, blue holes, caves, bays and ancient coral reefs which makes for a fantastic holiday experience.
Drive up to Glass Window Bridge located at the narrowest part of Eleuthera, north of the island where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Take your trip even further north to explore Preachers Cave which is where the islands founders (Eleutheran Adventurers) took refuge when their ship wrecked in 1648. The original stone altar is inside the cave. Some other caves in the area are Rum Bottle Cave and Spider Cave. Walk miles of scenic trails at Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, where you will see hundreds of indigenous trees, plants, and wildlife such as mangroves, five-finger plants, and bullfinches. Stroll across Pink Sand Beach at Harbour Island, world-renowned for its pink sand and incredible views. One of the most breath-taking spots in Eleuthera is Lighthouse Beach which has snorkel worthy reefs perfect for swimming in and opportunities to explore the nearby caves and rock formations. This beach is also a great spot for picnics!
Eleuthera is the perfect paradise holiday for honeymoon couples, friends or families. Accommodation options here are endless from resorts and hotels to beachside villas and cottages. Many of the resorts offer all inclusive options for families with kids.
